METHODOLOGY

How the Crazy Score™ Works

Every minute, we pull live data from the National Weather Service — active watches, warnings, and advisories statewide, plus current conditions from six representative SC locations. Each factor is weighted and combined into a single score from 1 to 100+.

Active Alerts

Tornado warnings, hurricane watches, flood advisories, and all NWS alerts are weighted by severity and urgency.

Temperature Extremes

Dangerous heat above 95°F or hard freezes below 32°F push the score higher.

Wind Speed

Sustained winds and gusts from six SC locations are factored in — from breezy to hurricane force.

Precipitation Chance

High probability of rain, snow, or severe storms adds to the intensity index.
